When The Kids Play

I think I've mentioned before that I went to high school and college in Las Vegas and most of Big D's family lives there as well. So does my BFF who is known in bloggieland as Existential Waitress. We have wanted to get our kids to meet and play since before Bug was born but for a variety of circumstances that didn't happen until this last Friday when we went to Vegas for a visit.

We had the feeling our kids would get along but their interaction exceeded our expectations. It was a serious funfest. Our kids played and played and danced and played "See You" otherwise known as Hide and Seek for hours and hours. Bug LOVED all of Maggs and Bear's toys and they just got along so damn well. EW and I were such proud parents. We were mentally high-fiving each other all evening cause our kids rocked! It is the kind of thing that makes a mommy all sappy and even a little teary-eyed. It was awesome!

Awww, it made me teary just reading this! Our visit really did exceed my wildest expectations - I mean, I fully expected Maggs and Bug to hit it off (but even THAT still managed to exceed my wildest expectations) but even Bear loved it. And I didn't think a six year-old boy obsessed with videogames would have any interest in hanging out with a toddler- he's never taken any interest in any of the other little kids that have been around before. I really am so very, very proud of our kids. Bear and Maggs just LOVED Bug and so do I. I told you, I consider her my neice. ;)I am determined to find a way to make these visits more frequent - one way or another! It was so awesome to see YOU with Bug too! It meant a lot to me to see you as a mom - and you really, truly are a great one - we be all grown up now!!! ;) Love, K

Aw shucks, you made me all teary-eyed again. You are a great mom too and it is obvious by how much Bear and Maggs love you and respect you. We are old!!!

Too. Jealous. For. Words.

LOVE all you guys. And miss EW so much. Please come back to bloggyland!

XOXOXOX to all.

The only reason they seemed like they respect me is because I threatened to beat them before you got there if they didn't put on a good show and behave. ;)

And yeah we are old. How did that happen? It seems like just yesterday we were dancing with abandon to Split Enz.

Sorry for the extended hiatus! Life got crazy busy suddenly and I just needed a break. Sometimes I feel like I'm sick of hearing my own voice and just want to lose myself in marathons of The Real Housewives for a while. I miss you all and I'll be back soon. ;)

You guys are a crack up. I LOVE when the kids play, and what a bonus when your best friend's kids like your kids. It would truly suck (and I know it will in the future when my kids pick their own friends...) if my kids want to only play with kids whose moms are not nearly as cool as me ;) See, two can do that winky smiley face thing. Glad you're back, Amy, and EW, can't wait till you're back too!

Okay, so I'm sorry that I am totally co-opting your site, Amy, and inserting myself in your convo. But I am so happy to hear that you guys had such a great time together. And I know I barely know you guys compared to how close you are with each other, but it is so cool that you are bloggy friends and real friends. I mean, like what could be better than that, really? (Other than jarred cheese and cool whip, of course.)

And EW, I am sooooo glad that you will be coming back. I totally miss you and blogging just doesn't feel the same without you.

But I do understand completely what you mean. And you talked about this stuff before too, Amy, didn't you? Sometimes blogging does feel overwhelming and kinda yucky. Almost like high school or something, where I spend WAY too much time worrying whether my bangs are teased high enough and if my stone-washed jeans are still in style.

Anyway, I LURRV the heck out of the both of you. And it was neat to hear about your visit together!! Big huggles to all.

OMWCW, I don't mind at all. I love all your comments. I have a feeling your kids would have enjoyed the pure and wonderful silliness of this get together as well--it was kinda like jarred cheese and cool whip with a little organic thrown it too. In other words, pure awesomeness!

I do feel that same way about blogging sometimes. When I get that way I sometimes have to take a break and remember that I started this blog just to write and have fun with writing and to make EW laugh cause I figured she was the only person who would read this blog.

So it is just such a nice surprise when I find other cool mommies like you who have great blogs and actually like mine!

Sounds like a good time! I'm still trying to talk my besty into starting a blog and our kids have only been together one time. (They did have a blast though.)
