The Good Part
Here in the desert there comes a day every year when the air snaps. The unbearable unbreathable air snaps. The heat snaps. Cooler air breezes in. Fall arrives in a moment here. It happens every year. Yet somewhere in the middle of September when the temps are still easily over 100 degrees, maybe even over 110 (Though who is counting after 100? At that point HOT is just HOT.) you think you might go stir crazy or just CRAZY, period, end of story. Because you are STUCK inside from house to car to store and back. You can see outside. You can see the lifeless playgrounds and the grassy fields. But you are TRAPPED inside with the money sucking invention that makes this whole desert living experiment even possible, the A/C. But then that day comes and it all changes and everyone runs outside to PLAY and you remember that there is BEAUTY living here in the desert. It is like the first day of spring.

Yes! October is even better than Spring.
I love the desert! The dry heat and cooler nights.
Fall in the desert IS like spring! I have been LOVING this weather too - I've got the back door open even now as I write this. Honestly, I thought the summer would never end this year. I am sooooo glad that fall is finally here.
i had a friend who moved from ohio, to chicago, to arizona ... and back to chicago - she said the heat was unbearable! i guess more so b/c she's from colder temps to begin with! thanks for stopping by the crib! and thanks for admitting your non-gross out factor. i didn't find it gross whatsoever - it's eyeballs that get to me!
I spent my teen years and college in LV so I knew the kind of heat that was ahead of me when I moved to the desert. But it was still a shock to be 110 in mid September. I can totally undestand having to get out esp if you are not used to it. It's kerazy. But the fall is really great here. Not great like New England (where I am from originally) great but still...
